Luxe + Form: Editorial Digital Monograph for Master Builders
How Valence engineered an ultra-fast, zero-layout-shift portfolio showcasing high-resolution architectural estates with editorial typographic precision.
The Challenge
Luxe + Form designs multimillion-dollar residential retreats in the Swiss Alps and Mediterranean coasts. Their prospective clients are discerning patrons of modern architecture who expect tactile beauty, minimalism, and quiet luxury.
Their previous website relied on heavy uncompressed photography files (often 12MB+ per page) that caused painful stuttering, layout shifts, and mobile crashes. Furthermore, generic carousel sliders cheapened their architectural imagery.
The Strategic Solution
Valence stripped away all decorative fluff in favor of a museum-grade editorial layout. We established a strict typography hierarchy inspired by Swiss modernism, letting massive estate photography take center stage.
Technically, we implemented automated responsive image resolution serving (AVIF/WebP) with pre-calculated aspect-ratio boxes. This eliminated Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS score: 0.000) entirely while cutting total page weight from 18MB to under 1.2MB with zero perceptual loss in image sharpness.
